The world of watches is as dynamic as it is diverse, offering designs that span the spectrum from bold and commanding, like Hublot and Audemars Piguet, to minimalist styles that suit every occasion.
For budget-conscious enthusiasts, options like Daniel Wellington or design-focused brands such as Komono, Tsovet, TRIWA, and Uniform Wares have carved their niche. But today, let me introduce you to a fresh contender from Australia: Archibald by Huckleberry & Co.
Born on Kickstarter, the crowdfunding platform that connects creatives with everyday backers, Huckleberry & Co is in its final days of funding. Their aim? To officially launch by April next year.
I was introduced to this project by Ricky Fung, the mastermind behind Huckleberry & Co. When he reached out in late November, he sent me the Kickstarter link for Archibald. One glance, and I was hooked. The sleek, sophisticated design spoke for itself. I shared the link with friends, and their reactions were unanimous: "It’s stunning!"

In English, Archibald translates to "anti-aircraft gun." According to Ricky, the name symbolizes their bold ambition to deliver high-quality watches at an unbeatable price.
And they’ve done just that. Archibald is an automatic watch, powered by the robust and precise Miyota 9132 movement - a Japanese marvel that rivals Swiss ETA movements in performance. Retailing at around $400, it’s only a shade pricier than today’s better quartz options, yet it offers so much more.
The Archibald has a thickness of approximately 11.5mm.
The Archibald comes in two colors: silver steel and rose gold.
Archibald’s minimalist appeal is undeniable. With a case thickness of just 11.5mm and a 40mm diameter, it achieves a clean, elegant profile. Buyers can choose between two colorways:
Silver Steel: Paired with a crisp white dial.
Rose Gold: Complemented by a soft champagne gold dial.
The power reserve indicator is positioned at the 12 o'clock mark.
At the 12 o’clock position, the watch features a power reserve indicator, a luxury detail typically reserved for high-end mechanical timepieces.
Once production wraps up, I’ll have a chance to review the watch in detail and share more insights. Until then, we can all admire Archibald’s exceptional craftsmanship and timeless beauty.
If you’re a fan of sleek, well-made timepieces that won’t break the bank, Archibald might just steal your heart.
