Dealing with dry hair can be more than just an itch - it leads to dandruff, and worst of all, styling becomes a nightmare. Hair with natural moisture makes it easy to apply products like wax or pomade, but with dry hair, that styling just falls flat within an hour or two, no matter how many different products you try.

And right now, dry weather doesn’t help. So, how do you treat stubborn dry hair?

Shampoo Less Often

If you’re not hitting the gym or the field daily, limit shampooing to 3-4 times a week. Over-washing strips away natural oils, which leaves your scalp drier. Give your scalp a break, and it’ll release natural oils to keep things balanced.

When shampooing, keep these tips in mind: avoid hot water (it can increase dandruff), use a small amount of shampoo, and don’t scratch your scalp. A gentle massage with your fingertips does the trick.

Expensive shampoos don’t always mean better results. I’ve found that Clear Men does the job for me, and switching brands often brings back dandruff.

Don’t Skip the Conditioner

Use conditioner at least once a week for soft, manageable hair. But remember, these products are chemicals, so don’t overdo it. After shampooing, apply a modest amount, massage gently, and rinse well.

Dry Hair Isn’t All Bad

It sounds counterintuitive, but hair is weakest when wet, making it prone to breakage. After washing, dry it on the lowest hairdryer setting. Worried about heat damage? A spritz of Sea Salt Spray or a couple of drops of Argan oil provides heat protection and moisture.

Be Smart with Styling Products

Look for alcohol- and fragrance-free styling products to avoid stripping away natural moisture. Gels and sprays often contain drying ingredients, so always check the label before buying!

Give Your Hair a Break

Helmets are a must, but they absorb moisture and can dry out your hair. Since helmets are unavoidable, try cutting down on wearing other hats when you can.

Go Easy on the Hair Dye

Chemical dyes are harsh on already dry hair, so resist the urge to experiment with color. The damage just isn’t worth it.

Eat Right for Healthy Hair

Your diet has a direct effect on your hair. Omega-3s are excellent for hair health and are found in fatty fish like salmon and mackerel. Avocados are a great choice too, and eggs, packed with biotin, naturally boost hair growth and scalp health.
