Which Brands Are Famous for Breton T-Shirts?

For a stripe pattern enthusiast like me, there’s no such thing as too much discussion around Breton shirts. I’m genuinely obsessed! So much so that when I started brainstorming ideas for my own brand, SOLID, Breton t-shirts were at the top of the list as our signature product 😆. That’s how the Ruiz T-shirt came to life - a blend of my passion and my team’s enthusiastic support.

The Ruiz T-Shirt: SOLID’s Flagship in Need of a Revamp!

I’ll admit it, our Ruiz T-shirt has some way to go before reaching the perfection of my all-time favorite Breton brands. But that’s what drives us! We’re dedicated to refining it for an ideal fit and fabric feel, drawing inspiration from the iconic brands I’m about to introduce.

The Breton Shirt Company

This brand is all about Breton shirts, and they do it well. Their cotton material is a bit thick initially but softens over time, creating a shirt that gets better with every wear.

Armor Lux

This French classic has been setting the Breton standard since the 1930s. Armor Lux remains loyal to the traditional Breton style and still manufactures in Brittany, the historical heart of the Breton shirt.

It’s one of the “Big Three” Breton producers in France, alongside Saint James (1889) and Orcival (1939), but Armor Lux has become the best-known internationally.

ISTO.

ISTO. represents the next generation of Breton makers, placing sustainability at the forefront of their designs. With eco-friendly materials and meticulous production standards, ISTO. offers three carefully crafted Breton models, each perfected down to every cut and stitch.

CDG Play

CDG Play, an offshoot of Comme des Garçons, brings a fresh, playful edge to Breton shirts. Known for its casual wear, CDG Play’s Breton shirts add a twist with their quirky neckline and the embroidered heart logo on the chest - a style move that’s both fun and effortlessly cool 🥹.

Sunspel

Sunspel is renowned for their basics, especially those crafted from luxurious pima cotton. Their Breton shirts are a splurge but deliver in comfort, quality, and durability, with many items still produced in the UK.

Wearing a Sunspel Breton feels like it was made just for you - soft and seamlessly comfortable 🥲.

While SOLID’s Ruiz T-shirt isn’t in this lineup (a photo above says it all 😂), we’re on a mission to bring our version to the next level. Stay tuned!
