"Cost Per Wear" (CPW) isn't just a buzzword; it's a long-standing concept embraced by fashion enthusiasts for years. Recently, however, TikTok creators have revitalized this idea, showcasing it in engaging videos and bringing it back into the fashion conversation.

So, what exactly is CPW? The formula is simple: take the price of an item and divide it by how many times you wear it. A lower CPW indicates a smarter investment. For instance, if you splurge on a pair of pants for 2,000,000 VND and wear them three times a week, you’ll get about 144 wears in the first year. When you divide the price by the number of wears, you’re looking at around 14,000 VND per wear. That’s cheaper than your morning coffee and highlights why it's worth investing in versatile pieces compared to cheaper alternatives that get worn only a handful of times.

But CPW isn’t just a straightforward calculation; it can also carry deeper philosophical and emotional meanings. Initially, an item may appear pricey, yet if it remains in your wardrobe for years and can be styled in countless ways, its perceived cost diminishes over time. A low CPW becomes a mark of pride, reflecting your appreciation for the item. The adage "I'm too poor to buy cheap things" rings true here; investing in quality typically means better longevity. This is particularly evident with denim and leather goods, which often improve with age and even show the character of repairs, making them more rewarding to wear than brand-new alternatives.

Calculating CPW also encourages a more thoughtful approach to your wardrobe and personal style. Achieving a low CPW requires focusing on the quality of materials and craftsmanship, rather than merely chasing trends.

Ultimately, though, the most significant factor is your emotional connection to the item. You choose to bring something into your closet because it brings you joy when worn. If it fits well, is made of high-quality materials, and is crafted with attention to detail, you don’t need to obsess over CPW - just wear it and enjoy every moment!
