Blue Made Easy: Look Sharp Without Overthinking It

First off, I’ve got to admit - I’m all in on every shade of blue out there: navy, sky, cobalt - you name it. If you saw me decked out in blue from Monday to Sunday, trust me, I wouldn’t be bored, and I hope you can indulge my bias.

But, let's be real: most of us have a few blue pieces in our closets. Beyond the classic white and black, blue is that universally flattering shade that radiates masculinity, suits most skin tones, and pairs effortlessly. Here are some go-to ways to style blue with ease:

blazer

A blue blazer is a style essential. When in doubt, grab a navy blazer - it’s got you covered for formal and casual occasions alike. It’s my “safest” wardrobe choice, hands down, and pairs perfectly with blue jeans, beige chinos, or tailored trousers without a second thought.

For a sharper look, try blue blazers with subtle stripes or large windowpane checks. These pieces will carry you through season after season, adding a bit of sophistication to your wardrobe.

Sweater

Another versatile piece that doesn’t ask for much - just pair a blue sweater with beige chinos and a light coat for a laid-back weekend vibe, or dress it up with a sleek gray blazer for a sharper look.

For extra options, a navy cardigan is also worth having. It works with both tees and patterned shirts, giving off a refined yet approachable feel. Pair it with a white shirt, dress pants, and clean leather shoes, and you’re set.

Pants

Blue pants are the quiet workhorse in any closet. Experiment with different shades of blue to keep your outfits varied without straying too far from the basics.

Start with jeans, naturally. Darker jeans lean more casual, while lighter or distressed pairs feel more laid-back. For a smarter vibe, go for navy pinstriped dress pants. They work wonders with wool or tweed for a classic, elevated look.

If khakis are more your thing, try a light blue or sky blue pair for something fresh. Stick to neutral colors like gray or white for a clean, balanced look.

Coats

A solid navy coat is hard to beat in colder weather. Trench coats, parkas, or duffle coats in navy offer timeless style and effortless wearability. Want to make a statement? Electric blue or cobalt coats add a punch of color and show you’re keeping up with the trends.

Accessories

Blue accessories add a little edge without stealing the show. Think beanies, scarves, and gloves for Tet season. A navy scarf over a charcoal suit brings classic appeal, while a dark beanie with a brown leather jacket ties things together in a clean, stylish way.
