Have you ever wondered why sneakers, traditionally linked to sports like basketball, can’t reach the heights of luxury fashion? Sneakers were once seen as casual, accessible, and budget-friendly, but in recent years, they’ve made their way into the world of high-end fashion. So, why not elevate sneakers to the level of luxury? After all, dress shoes from skilled artisans command astronomical prices, so why shouldn’t a pair of sneakers get the same treatment?
Brands like Y-3, Rick Owens, Common Projects, and Buscemi have proven that sneakers can occupy a luxurious space. To be truly luxurious, sneakers must meet a high standard of quality: premium leather, cutting-edge design, and - importantly - limited production. These aren’t shoes made on an assembly line; instead, they’re crafted by skilled artisans to create something unique and exceptional.
Today, I’d like to introduce you to a brand that does just that: Phillipe Model. Combining sleek French design with the craftsmanship of Italian artisans, Phillipe Model creates sneakers that stand out in the world of luxury fashion. The video below gives you a peek into the detailed process behind Phillipe Model’s shoes - from leather selection to the final product.
Every pair of Phillipe Model sneakers is handcrafted by artisans in the Riviera del Brenta region, near Venice, Italy. From cutting the leather to molding the soles, no detail is overlooked. The dedication of the craftsmen ensures that each pair is a true work of art.
The shoes arrive in a striking light blue box, and the dust bag inside reassures you that these sneakers will be well protected when not in use.
When opened, it looks like this. Just seeing the dust bag gives peace of mind, knowing the shoes will be well protected when not in use.
The smooth white leather sneakers from Philippe Model that were gifted to me are called "Noah." These low-top sneakers are part of the Fall/Winter 2016 collection from the brand, which was released at the end of June.
Tadaaaaaa! Simplicity and elegance are the first impressions I had of the Philippe Model Noah.
The Noah is made from soft calf leather with a natural wrinkle texture. The sole is divided into two parts: the upper half is made of leather, while the lower half is rubber molded in a serrated pattern.
Every stitch and seam is carefully crafted with great attention to detail.
The inner lining is also made of leather. Overall, everything is great, except that if you're walking on the streets of Vietnam, a pair of pristine white sneakers like the Noah will require regular maintenance.
There's no need to mention the versatility of a white pair of sneakers, as they can be paired with anything in your wardrobe:
