Review: Murdock London’s Daily Facial Care Routine – The Ultimate Trio for All Skin Types

When it comes to achieving healthy, clean skin, the products you use are crucial. Whether your skin is normal, oily, dry, or a combination, finding the right skincare routine makes all the difference. Murdock London, a top-tier grooming brand from the UK, knows this well. They’ve created the Daily Facial Care Regime, which includes a face wash, moisturizer, and exfoliating scrub - suitable for any skin type.

You might wonder: Do men really need all these products? Isn’t a face wash enough? The truth is, for deep and proper facial care, a single product won’t cut it. After trying Murdock’s skincare trio for nearly three weeks, here’s my take. But first, here’s a quick rundown of how to use them:

Step One: Exfoliate (1-2 times/week)

Product: MEN’S EXFOLIATING FACE SCRUB

I like to think of this step as “polishing” your face. The scrub provides a satisfying sensation, almost like a pumice stone massage. Apply it evenly, and gently rub in circular motions across your face to get the best results.

Step Two: Cleanse (daily)

Product: CLEANSING FACE WASH

Wet your face, then apply a coin-sized amount of the wash. Rub it between your hands to create some lather and then massage it over your forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin. Easy.

Step Three: Moisturize (daily)

Product: HYDRATING FACIAL MOISTURISER

Yes, even oily skin needs moisture. Using a good moisturizer ensures smooth, hydrated skin, especially during cold, dry months. Dab a little on your fingertips and spread it across your face, focusing on areas prone to dryness, like around your eyes. The best time to use this? At night, before bed.

My Thoughts on Murdock’s Daily Trio

Exfoliating Face Scrub: This product lives up to the hype. The creamy texture - almost like an avocado smoothie - combined with tiny pumice particles, works wonders in removing dead skin cells. It leaves your face feeling smooth and fresh. Just be cautious not to overdo it, as using scrubs too frequently can wear down your skin. Stick to 1-2 times a week to give your skin a chance to heal and regenerate.

Bonus: This scrub also helps prep your skin for shaving, making the chin and mouth area soft enough for a close, smooth shave without any nicks.

Cleansing Face Wash: It lathers well without producing too much foam (a sign of fewer harsh chemicals), and after rinsing - especially with warm water - your skin feels refreshed and thoroughly cleansed.

Hydrating Facial Moisturiser: Despite its thick consistency, this moisturizer feels surprisingly light and absorbs quickly after washing your face. No need to spend extra time massaging it in. For those with oily skin, like me, it balances oil production without clogging pores, giving a well-hydrated, matte finish.

Scent: The face wash has a subtle minty scent, mixed with hints of aloe vera. The exfoliating scrub smells more luxurious, with notes of aloe and jojoba oil, giving it a refined, almost cologne-like fragrance. The moisturizer, however, is practically scent-free - a smart move as it’s the final step, leaving your skin refreshed without overpowering your senses.
