Curious about what’s been trending in 2016? Google’s Fashion Trend Report is here with the answers. Just a few days ago, the world’s leading search engine released its stats on men's fashion for the year, based on billions of keyword searches. Here’s a breakdown of the items that have captured men’s attention in 2016:
Bomber Jackets – The Reigning King of 2016
Searches for "bomber jacket" have exploded by a whopping 500% compared to last year. This trend kicked off in the summer of 2015 and hasn’t slowed down since. In the UK, David Beckham is the name most tied to the bomber jacket craze, while in the US, Kanye West seems to be setting the tone. The most popular colors? Black, olive green, and standard green, though pink has made a noticeable climb.
We can’t forget the "souvenir jacket" either - a variation of the bomber jacket, featuring Japanese-inspired embroidery and patterns, which has been making waves this fall.
Ripped Jeans
The demand for "ripped jeans" and "ripped black jeans" has doubled compared to last year. White jeans, cargo chinos, and linen pants have also seen a noticeable spike in searches.
Comfort and Simplicity Rule
Comfort is clearly king in 2016. One prime example? The "sweatshirt" trend, which has seen a 500% rise in searches. Polo shirts and white tees have also made significant gains.
Functionality is another big focus, with "waterproof jackets" seeing a 300% increase in searches, while "windbreaker jackets" have grown by 100%. This year, it’s all about practicality - comfort and functionality are taking priority over flashy, over-the-top designs.
