Lately, I've been hearing a lot of "confessions" from guys struggling with hair that's anywhere from slightly thin to very thin. This can lead to uneven distribution and gaps between hair sections, making styling - especially with trendy looks like pompadours or slick-backs - quite a challenge.

While I don't recommend hair growth products, as I’m fortunate to have thick, fast-growing hair that I need to trim regularly, I understand the frustration. Navigating the world of hair growth medications can be complex, and I wouldn’t want to suggest something without knowing its origins. Instead, I’d like to share a few practical tips that might help improve your situation!
Skip the Conditioner Step
Or at least limit your use of conditioner to just 1-2 times a week. The primary role of conditioner is to “cover up” the nutrients and natural oils that get stripped away during shampooing. And let's be real - anything natural, especially what your scalp produces, is often better.

Furthermore, hair that’s too soft and smooth might not be ideal for those with thin hair, as it highlights flaws. A bit of texture and slight frizz can actually create the illusion of thicker hair - just my two cents!
Comb Hair to One Side

If you notice a thin spot, simply comb your hair to that side to conceal it. This quick fix can limit your hairstyle options, but it’s effective.

If you're feeling bold, try a side-swept look like Josh Mario John, the face of Hanz de Fuko! 😀
Use Thickening Spray
After washing, apply a thickening spray, like R+Co’s Thickening Spray, evenly throughout your damp hair. This specialized product is worth trying if your budget allows. (And please don’t ask me how to order it - I promise there are many options, from direct orders to online shopping platforms!)

A more budget-friendly alternative is Sea Salt Spray, which I introduced not too long ago. Sea Salt Spray can add texture and volume, offering results comparable to professional products without breaking the bank.
Invest in a Good Hair Dryer
Forget those cute travel hair dryers that come as freebies with purchases. Their drying power is usually insufficient and won't do much beyond drying your hair. You’ll want a more powerful hair dryer with both hot and cold settings. The right airflow will not only dry your hair but help the strands stick together, creating a thicker appearance.

Here’s a handy tip: use the hot setting to style your hair, then switch to cold to set your look. It’s surprisingly effective!
Use Styling Products That Boost Volume
First up is By Vilain Dynamite Clay. I initially thought the "Volume Boost" label was just marketing hype, but I can confirm it genuinely increases hair volume, especially for bangs.

Another great option is Mister Pompadour Texture Powder. Simply sprinkle it onto your hair and style as you usually would.
I used to enjoy using Dust It by Schwarzkopf Osis, similar to Mister Pompadour, and loved its unique application. Powder products are fantastic for creating natural texture in medium-length hairstyles, helping layers overlap for added thickness. They also absorb excess oil, leaving your hair feeling fresh and dry.
Light Curling

This method not only boosts volume but also gives your hairstyle a fresh twist. I suggest lightly curling just the bangs and the top of your head - you'll be surprised at how much thicker your hair appears. Curly hair is generally easier to style and holds its shape better than straight hair.
Implement these tips to help manage thin hair, and you'll find styling becomes less of a struggle!
