No matter your personal style or budget, your wardrobe needs a solid foundation of basic pieces. Classic staples like white T-shirts, dark jeans, and simple button-downs are the backbone of any man’s wardrobe. These items never go out of style, and they’ll have your back on any occasion. Personally, I’ve always loved plain tees, solid-colored shirts, dark denim, or a good pair of navy trousers. With that in mind, here’s a roundup of some of my favorite go-to brands for high-quality basics at wallet-friendly prices.
Uniqlo
Coming from Japan, Uniqlo has rapidly become a powerhouse in affordable fashion. Whether it’s cool cotton T-shirts, crisp linen shirts, or even plush cashmere sweaters, Uniqlo delivers in a wide range of colors and fabrics.

The brand’s consistent quality and unbeatable prices are why it’s loved by so many across the globe.

H&M
This Swedish giant needs no introduction, especially for Vietnamese men. H&M is known for its massive variety and its ability to stay on top of the latest global trends. You’ll find everything from linen T-shirts, black chinos, and navy or gray trousers, to lightweight cardigans. While the quality is what you’d expect at this price point - decent, but not top-tier - it’s hard to beat the style for what you pay.

H&M’s collaborations with high-fashion designers are legendary, from Alexander Wang to Versace, Maison Martin Margiela, and Lanvin. I personally snagged some pieces from the Modern Essentials Selected by David Beckham line.

And rumor has it, H&M might be opening stores in Vietnam soon - fingers crossed!
American Apparel
Known for their practical, no-nonsense approach to fashion, American Apparel offers a range of basics you can rock year-round. Whether it’s underwear, tees, simple jackets, or knitwear, you can count on finding solid everyday essentials here.

Mango Man
Originally launched in 2008 as H.E. by Mango, Mango Man has made a name for itself among those who appreciate sophistication and attention to detail.

Their chinos are a standout for me, with a great selection of colors, quality cuts, and a variety of fabrics.

ASOS
When it comes to online shopping, ASOS reigns supreme. The site offers a massive selection of affordable and mid-range brands, along with their own in-house label.

ASOS’s pack deals are a major draw - think 5-7 plain tees or a couple of smart shirts bundled together for a great price. Their jeans and chinos are also well worth a look.

Whatever your style, ASOS has you covered, and the convenience of online shopping just sweetens the deal. 😀
Marks & Spencer
A long-standing British brand, M&S is a great place to stock up on basics, especially if you’re after henley shirts or regular-fit tees.

Recently, M&S has been putting more focus on modern loungewear - comfortable enough to relax in but stylish enough to step outside in. Keep an eye on their frequent campaigns featuring model David Gandy for some inspiration.
